It didn’t take long for Jon Jones’ legal team to counter all the allegations that were thrown at them regarding a new criminal offense, following a misdemeanor charge of leaving the scene of an accident.
On June 24, 2025, hours after he retired from the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC), another criminal issue involved Jones’ name in an investigative report published by the Albuquerque Journal.
Police reports confirmed that the youngest champion in the history of the UFC fled a car crash last February 21, 2025, where a woman was found in the passenger seat heavily intoxicated.
The Albuquerque police also said that the woman lacked clothing from the waist down, and it was Jones who was driving the car who crashed.
The woman involved was then interviewed by the police, and she added that from the time after the crash, Jones called her 13 times and texted her.
However, according to Jones’ lawyer, attorney Christopher Dodd, the UFC superstar was never at the scene of the incident, adding that his client didn’t drive the vehicle that crashed.
Atty. Dodd added that the woman who was inside the car used false allegations against Jones to avoid being arrested by the Albuquerque police.
“I have never heard of such a thing. It is truly unbelievable that the police would waste this amount of resources on such a case,” said Atty. Dodd.
After what surfaced on the internet, Jones responded with an updated post on his official social media account which stated: “Keep in mind, even the media can get it wrong sometimes if they don’t have all the facts. Don’t believe everything you read online.”
If he is proven guilty, this will be another disappointing outcome in his professional career after facing a failed drug test, a hit-and-run, and domestic violence in the past several years.
