Embattled hooper John Amores is hoping for a re-consideration following the revocation of his professional playing license slapped by the Games and Amusement Board (GAB).
According to PBA commissioner Willie Marcial on December 24, 2024, Amores and his camp are planning to appeal the decision.
Marcial shared that the PBA received the official email from GAB regarding Amores’ situation, and he immediately relayed the update to the former swingman of the NorthPort Batang Pier.
“Nakausap ko si Amores, sabi ko, natanggap ko na, anong balak mo? Balak nya daw na mag appeal,” Marcial said.
However, Marcial reiterated that they will still comply with the measures and rules that GAB will be setting on Amores, and they will respect whatever final decision they make.
Currently, Amores is still unemployed, after the PBA slapped him with a one-conference ban without any salary. With the recent decision by GAB, the young hooper is prohibited to join any pro leagues sanctioned under them.
On December 22, 2024, Amores didn’t have a joyous Christmas atmosphere when GAB announced the revocation of his pro playing license.
The formal decision was announced by GAB chairman Francisco Rivera and commissioners Manuel Plaza III and Angel Bautista.
As per the six-page decision under GAB case No. 109-4, Amores is guilty of “conduct unbecoming of a professional basketball player.”
Before releasing their final decision regarding the case, Amores was ordered by the PBA and commissioner Willie Marcial to undergo counseling.
Amores and his camp worked hand-in-hand with the PBA and his mother franchise, NorthPort, but despite the accomplished requirements, GAB still slapped the young hooper with a high-degree penalty.
