Joel Embiid signs massive 3-year, $193 million contract extension with Philadelphia

Joel Embiid isn’t going anywhere.

After an inspiring comeback from an injury that kept him out of the NBA in his rookie season, “The Process” will still proceed in the city of Philadelphia after the dominant center agreed to a three-year $193 million contract extension.

Shams Charania of The Athletic first posted the latest update in the NBA world and Embiid quickly confirmed the news on his social media accounts, stating that he wants to stay with the 76ers for the rest of his career.

“Philadelphia is home. I want to be here for the rest of my career. I love this community and everything you’ve given me and my family,” posted Embiid on his official Instagram account.

During the past NBA season, Embiid skyrocketed his stats to 34.7 points, 11 rebounds, 5.6 assists, 1.7 blocks, and 1.2 blocks per game.

However, the front-court menace failed to repeat his Most Valuable Player (MVP) recognition after suffering an injury in the second half of the season.

Embiid couldn’t suit up for Philadelphia in the final month of the NBA regular season and returned during the playoffs.

However, Embiid and the 76ers suffered a heartbreaking loss in the first round after getting stunned by Jalen Brunson and the New York Knicks.

After another disappointing NBA post-season campaign, the 76ers decided to load up their roster for the upcoming tip-off and added Paul George from the Los Angeles Clippers.

Aside from George, Philadelphia also signed Miami Heat’s Caleb Martin, Phoenix Suns’ Eric Gordon, and Denver Nuggets’ Reggie Jackson.

Rounding up the 76ers’ off-season roster revamp was Guerschon Yabusele, who had a tremendous Paris Olympics campaign with the French national team.

Philadelphia also re-signed veteran backcourt floor general Kyle Lowry and skipper Kelly Oubre Jr. to respective deals.
