MANILA — Jobstreet by SEEK, in partnership with the Department of Education (DepEd), has officially launched the Career Readiness Caravan, a nationwide initiative designed to boost employability and career awareness among Senior High School (SHS) and Alternative Learning System (ALS) learners.
The program aims to empower students by developing critical skills, offering insights into the job market, and providing practical advice for navigating their professional careers with confidence.
The Caravan initially rolled out pocket runs in Metro Manila cities such as Valenzuela, Navotas, Taguig and Pateros, and Caloocan, attracting 200 participants who engaged in workshops, talks, and career-building activities.
In addition to these sessions, Jobstreet by SEEK participated in the National Career Expo 2025 held in Lubao, Pampanga, which gathered more than 450 student participants.
Organized by the Bureau of Learner Support Services-Youth Formation Division (BLSS-YFD) in collaboration with DepEd Region III, the event provided interactive career readiness activities, industry information, and motivational sessions tailored to student needs.
According to Jobstreet by SEEK, the initiative addresses a major employment challenge highlighted by the Philippine Business for Education (PBEd), which reported that only 1 in 5 Filipino companies are open to hiring senior high school graduates.
“Jobstreet by SEEK is not just an employment platform; we are a career partner to all Filipino students, equipping them with the right knowledge and confidence to achieve the job that they want,” said Dannah Majarocon, Jobstreet by SEEK Philippines Managing Director.
“That’s why we continue to partner with government agencies like DepEd to achieve the goal of making young Filipino learners empowered and help them transition seamlessly from education to employment,” she added.
Moving forward, Jobstreet by SEEK and DepEd plan additional initiatives, including on-ground career fairs to connect job seekers and employers directly for faster job placements.
They are also launching a career hub, an online resource offering continuous guidance and support to ensure learners transition successfully into the workforce.
Furthermore, the platform will provide free job postings for vacant teaching positions in public schools, enhancing efforts to reach qualified candidates nationwide.
Jobstreet by SEEK emphasized its commitment to bridging the gap between education and employment by offering students real-world tools and guidance needed to compete in the labor market.
