Jobstreet by SEEK has launched English proficiency verification on SEEK Pass across eight markets, allowing job seekers to display verified IELTS and Pearson Test of English credentials on their profiles and applications.
The rollout covers the Philippines, Australia, New Zealand, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore and Thailand, according to the company’s announcement provided in the release.
Through partnerships with IELTS, or the International English Language Testing System, and Pearson, provider of the Pearson Test of English, job seekers can now verify that they have completed a recognized English proficiency assessment via SEEK Pass.
Once verified, those credentials can be displayed on candidate profiles and job applications across SEEK, Jobstreet and Jobsdb, making it easier for employers to identify candidates with the language skills they need.
SEEK Pass is Jobstreet by SEEK’s digital career passport, which the company said is used by more than 4 million individuals to securely manage and share verified identity records, credentials and documents.
On its official site, SEEK Pass describes itself as a secure credential passport that helps users verify identity, credentials and documents for use in job applications.
The launch reflects how English proficiency remains a major hiring factor in many industries across the region, especially for multinational roles that require cross-market collaboration and for frontline positions in customer service and hospitality.
For many applicants, English test results are more than just academic records because they often represent a significant investment of time, preparation and money aimed at improving employability.
By adding verification for these assessments, SEEK Pass is positioning those credentials as a more visible signal to employers reviewing applications in competitive labor markets.
Xavier Russo, general manager of SEEK Pass, said the new feature addresses a practical hiring need for both employers and job seekers.
“We’ve seen how verified credentials can make a real difference for job seekers, helping them stand out in a competitive job market while giving employers what they need to make faster, more confident decisions. English proficiency is one of the most in-demand skills across our markets, particularly in Asia, where language skills are often a deciding factor in hiring. Partnering with IELTS and Pearson to bring English proficiency verification to SEEK Pass means we’re solving a real problem for millions of job seekers and the employers looking to hire them.”
SEEK Pass has helped 4.5 million job seekers verify their credentials across the Asia-Pacific, according to the release.
The company also said verified applicants are 20% more likely to be shortlisted by employers in Australia and New Zealand, a figure that underscores how verified credentials can influence early hiring decisions.
On Jobstreet’s Philippine help page, SEEK says credential verification is offered free to job seekers, lowering barriers for applicants who want to add trusted signals to their profiles.
Since launching in Asia a year ago, SEEK Pass has seen growing adoption among users on Jobstreet and Jobsdb, with more job seekers using verified credentials to differentiate themselves in the hiring process.
The English proficiency feature expands a broader verification suite that already includes identity verification, working rights, education, employment history, and industry-specific licenses and credentials.
“At IDP, we believe language skills should open doors. Job seekers invest real effort to earn an IELTS score, and this partnership with SEEK Pass helps them display their score with pride. We are proud to support any initiative that helps test takers achieve better outcomes as they move into work,” said Micheal James, Director, IELTS Operations.
James’ remarks place the new feature in a wider employment context, where test providers are increasingly linking language assessment outcomes to workforce mobility and hiring outcomes.
Pearson also said the inclusion of PTE in SEEK Pass could make screening more efficient for employers while giving candidates a clearer pathway to prove job-ready communication skills.
“The inclusion of PTE within SEEK Pass is a meaningful step forward for both employers and job seekers across APAC,” said Matthew Lampkin, Director, Asia Pacific, English Language Learning, Pearson. “For employers, it offers a trusted and efficient way to verify English proficiency, supporting fairer and more confident hiring decisions. For candidates, it creates a simpler, more accessible pathway to showcase their skills and improve their employability — helping them progress faster in an increasingly competitive job market.”
The company said SEEK Pass plans to expand its English proficiency partnerships to include additional providers in the future, signaling that the verification ecosystem may broaden beyond IELTS and PTE.
That expansion could matter in Southeast Asia and other regional labor markets where cross-border hiring, business process outsourcing, tourism and multinational operations continue to place a premium on English communication skills.
For employers, the feature adds another verified data point that may reduce screening friction and improve confidence in candidate profiles.
For job seekers, it offers a way to turn a recognized English test result into a visible hiring advantage at the point of application.
