A jobless man was arrested during a police anti-illegal drugs operation on the evening of October 12 in Estancia, Iloilo.
Jemar Olaera, 38, of Barangay Daan Banwa, Estancia, was apprehended in a buy-bust operation in Bayuyan village.
Members of the Estancia Municipal Police Station, in coordination with the Iloilo Police Provincial Office – Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit (IPPO-PDEU), PNP Maritime Group 4th SOU, 2nd Iloilo Provincial Mobile Force Company, and 601st Maritime Police Station, arrested the suspect after he sold a sachet of suspected shabu for PHP2,200.
The arresting team seized five sachets of suspected shabu along with several non-drug items.
The seized drugs weighed approximately 78.05 grams and were valued at PHP530,740.
The operation was launched after concerned citizens tipped off authorities about Olaera’s involvement in illegal drug activities.
His arrest followed nearly three months of surveillance.
Reports indicated that Olaera sourced his drug supply from Roxas City, Capiz.
The suspect is currently detained and will face charges for violations of Republic Act 9165, the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
