Aside from being the most dominant super flyweight in the International Boxing Federation (IBF) as the champion for already four years, Jerwin Ancajas bared that he had more plans for the future.
Becoming the best super flyweight is Ancajas’ ultimate goal, and this will be tested if he will prevail in another title defense against hard-hitting Jonathan Rodriguez.
“My dream is to unify my belt with at least one more then maybe I’ll move up in weight,” said Ancajas.
Ancajas will get a chance to turn that dream into reality after Top Rank Promotions chief Bob Arum said he is eyeing a fight between Ancajas and the WBA champion, Joshua Franco.
“We’re excited because he holds the WBA title and I was really surprised with how Franco fights and he’s a fighter that you shouldn’t overlook even if you don’t know him that well,” added Ancajas.
However, Ancajas will have to get past his challenger first and will square-off with one of the most heavy-hitting flyweights, the Mexican Rodriguez.
The 28-year-old Filipino champion has been ready since March and is just waiting for the final schedule of their fight.
