A man from Occidental Mindoro was arrested in a hot pursuit operation after stabbing a jeepney driver on the evening of Feb. 10 in Mandurriao, Iloilo City.
Felix Villegas, 65, a resident of Barangay Malisbong, Sablayan, Occidental Mindoro, allegedly attacked Joenivic Licanda, 51, of Barangay Bolilao, Mandurriao, following an argument.
According to reports, Licanda confronted Villegas after the latter failed to pay his jeepney fare. The suspect insisted he had already paid, which led to a heated exchange.
At the height of the argument, Villegas pulled out a knife and stabbed Licanda in the upper left chest before fleeing.
Authorities arrested Villegas shortly after the incident.
Licanda was taken to Western Visayas Medical Center for treatment.
