Iloilo police scored another big drug haul in an anti-narcotics operation afternoon of Nov. 19.
Menandro Gililang, 44, of Zone 7, Barangay Balabag, Santa Barbara, Iloilo was arrested after selling a sachet of suspected shabu for P20,200.
Members of Bingawan Municipal Police Station, together with the Iloilo Police Provincial Office – Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit (IPPO-PDEU), carried out the operation at Barangay Poblacion, Bingawan, around 2 p.m. on Sunday.
Police operatives recovered 13 more sachets of suspected shabu, other non-drug items, cash of P140, and a black Euro 125 motorcycle.
Lieutenant Ryan Christ Inot, Bingawan police chief, said the seized drugs weighed around 355 grams with a standard drug price worth Php2,414,000.
Inot said Gililang had no previous arrests but he has been under monitoring for working as an alleged runner of a drug gang leader.
Inot was referring to Crismark Blancaflor, 27, of Bingawan, Iloilo, who was arrested in a buy-bust operation at Hacienda Santa Ana, Barangay Palampas, San Carlos City, Negros Occidental on Aug. 30.
Blancaflor and John Valentin Remegio, 34, of La Paz, Iloilo City yielded P13.7 million worth of shabu.
“Siguro bagong bagsak lang ang supply kanina. Hindi pa siya naka-distribute sa ibang lugar,” Inot said.
It is believed that Gililang is operating in Iloilo province.
Gililang is now detained and will be charged with violation of Republic Act 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002).
