A jeepney conductor was shot dead early morning on November 23 in Miagao, Iloilo.
The victim was identified as a 30-year-old man known as alias Bulldog of Barangay Taal, Miagao, who was believed to be on his way home when the incident occurred.
Police Major Richard Lao, Miagao police chief, said there appear to be no eyewitnesses to the shooting.
He said police received information about the incident around 4:26 a.m. Sunday, after two residents — a man identified only as Toto of Barangay Mabayan, Miagao, and another known as Macmac of Barangay Pungtod Monteclaro, Miagao — passed by a feeder road in Barangay Bolocaue and saw a blue Yamaha Sniper motorcycle in the middle of the road.
He said the two men saw the victim lying unconscious about three meters from the motorcycle.
The pair had come from Barangay Banbanan, Miagao, and were on their way home when they discovered the scene.
The victim was taken to the Miagao Rural Health Unit but was declared dead on arrival.
Lao said the victim sustained gunshot wounds to both shoulders and one to the left thigh.
Investigators estimate the shooting occurred around 1:26 a.m., noting that a CCTV camera about 200 meters from the site captured what appeared to be gunfire at that time.
Lao said he could not disclose a possible motive pending further investigation.
