ROXAS CITY, Capiz – A 60-year-old former seaman was seriously wounded after he was stabbed by his drinking buddy Wednesday evening at Poblacion Ilawod in Cuartero, Capiz.
Emmanuel Pimentel is presently confined at Sen. Gerry Roxas District Hospital in Dao town after he was stabbed by Nilfren Chiva, 34, and resident of Bingawan, Iloilo but temporarily residing in said place.
Investigation by Cuartero Municipal Police Station indicated that Pimentel and Chiva argued while drinking liquor.
Chiva then drew a knife tucked in his waist and stabbed Pimentel on the right portion of his body.
Pimentel’s family called the town’s Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management response unit that took him to the hospital. The suspect was immediately arrested and detained at Cuartero police station.
The police are eyeing jealousy and intoxication as the motive behind the incident.
It was learned that Pimentel suspected Chiva of having an affair with his wife, which the latter denied.
