BACOLOD CITY — Police arrested a 48-year-old man in Barangay Tangub here last week, days after he was involved in a fatal stabbing in Barangay Singcang-Airport here on Sept. 23.
Police Capt. Greeky Cayao, head of Police Station 8, said the suspect, identified as “Parcon,” a resident of Pulupandan, Negros Occidental, was initially apprehended for illegal discharge of a firearm and illegal possession of firearms and ammunition during a police response.
He was later positively identified by a 24-year-old woman as the one who allegedly stabbed her live-in partner.
Cayao said the suspect alleged he committed the crime due to a threat between him and the victim, identified as “Paul,” and the station commander added that the suspect alleged he got jealous when he learned that the woman got back together with the victim.
Cayao said the woman and the victim had a relationship.
However, while the victim was in jail for a drug offense, she had an affair with the suspect.
When the victim was released from jail last August, the suspect saw them together, which led to a heated altercation and stabbing.
Murder charges have been filed against the suspect, as well as additional charges for illegal discharge of a firearm and violation of Republic Act 10591, or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.
Cayao said the suspect was also previously jailed for carnapping and a drug offense.
