BACOLOD City – A man who got jealous of his cousin was killed by the latter following a commotion at San Juan Bomba, Barangay 6, San Carlos City, Negros Occidental last Monday.
The victim was identified as Rovin Zapanta, 34, of Barangay 3.
Police Lieutenant Colonel Jesus Mesahon Jr., San Carlos City police chief, said the victim and the suspect identified as Christian Zapanta, 25, of Barangay 5 chanced upon each other in the area.
Rovin was standing in an alley when Christian arrived and a heated argument followed.
The suspect then allegedly stabbed the victim hitting his left armpit. He was declared dead on arrival.
Mesahon said the suspect may have acted in self-defense.
“Nangaman lang ni ang suspect ta during confrontation,” Mesahon said.
Mesahon said the victim allegedly got jealous of his cousin, but the latter denied that he has an affair with the victim’s wife.
Homicide charges will be filed against the suspect.
