BACOLOD CITY — A 31-year-old man is facing parricide charges after allegedly stabbing his wife to death during a heated argument in Sitio Batang, Barangay T-Hill, Guihulngan City, Negros Oriental, on Wednesday.
Police Lt. Stephen Polinar, spokesperson for the Negros Oriental Police Provincial Office (Norppo), said the couple had a troubled relationship.
They had previously agreed that the wife would either ask for her husband’s permission or be accompanied by him whenever she left their home.
The incident reportedly occurred after the suspect lost track of his wife while they were at the market, sparking a confrontation fueled by jealousy.
The argument escalated and ultimately led to the stabbing.
The suspect later turned himself in to authorities, accompanied by a barangay tanod.
Police were subsequently alerted by a hospital about a woman who had been admitted with stab wounds.
She was later identified as the victim in the case.
Authorities noted that the woman had only recently returned home after being away for almost two months.
While jealousy was believed to be the motive, police said there was no evidence of an extramarital affair.
