The Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO) confirmed on Thursday the relief of Major Eduardo Siacon as chief of the Iloilo City Police Station 3.
But Colonel Joeresty Coronica, Iloilo City police chief, clarified that it was Siacon who requested his own relief.
He allegedly went to Coronica’s office and asked that he be transferred a few days after an inmate escaped the ICSP3 custody on Feb. 28.
“Major Siacon mentioned several reasons why he wanted to be relieved. That’s why, I allowed him,” Coronica said.
Siacon is now assigned to the Iloilo City Mobile Force Company, his unit before he went back to ICPS3.
Captain Melchor Tolentino, who used to be assigned at the Iloilo Police Provincial Office, succeeded Siacon.
