Janiuay farmer arrested over rape charge

A farmer accused of rape was arrested May 1 in Janiuay, Iloilo.
Police identified the suspect only as Kapid, 41, of Barangay Quipot, Janiuay.
Members of the Janiuay Municipal Police Station, led by Capt. Randy Lambungan, arrested the suspect in Barangay San Julian, Janiuay, days after the warrant against him was issued.
Police said Kapid was arrested on the strength of a warrant for qualified rape under Article 266-B of the Revised Penal Code, docketed as Criminal Case No. 26-2992.
Judge Gemalyn Faunillo-Tarol of the Regional Trial Court Branch 76 in Janiuay, Iloilo, issued the arrest warrant April 28, 2026.
No bail was recommended for his temporary liberty.
Police said the suspect was listed as the No. 5 most wanted person in Iloilo province.
Kapid is detained at the custodial facility of the Janiuay Municipal Police Station pending proper disposition of his case.
