Jamie Malonzo proved why he is one of the most elite finishers not only in the UAAP but also in the whole country.
The former number two-pick in the PBA D-League draft, Malonzo toppled Thirdy Ravena and Juan Gomez de Liaño in a fiery dunk contest dubbed Home Jam: Dunkers Only streamed by ABS-CBN Sports.
Judges in the competition were UP’s Kobe Paras and Northport Batang Pier’s star guard Robert Bolick who was watching from California.
Malonzo ended the contest with a huge off-the-bounce windmill dunk in his third and final attempt that put the viewers in awe while Paras and Bolick were brought to their feet.
Malonzo was impressive from start to finish but Ravena and Juan GDL also performed jaw-dropping slams as well. Japan-bound Ravena completed a windmill jam and GDL threw down an off-the-bounce dunk.
Despite the loss, Ravena took home the best dunk award, GDL clinched the best prop award, and Malonzo grabbed the gimmick award in best sneakers.
