Days after James delos Santos announced his latest career milestone of landing the number 2 spot of the virtual kata world rankings, he then followed it up with a boosting win against world no.1 ranked, Eduardo Garcia.
Delos Santos and Portugal’s Garcia battled each other in the Athlete’s E-Tournament Series finals on Wednesday, August 12.
After two failed tries of folding the world’s best, delos Santos finally found his footing and took matters into his own hands with sheer determination to oust the no. 1.
“This was the third time I faced him, and it’s been competitive. This was special as he’s No. 1 and I’m No. 2 in the world rankings for the E-Tournaments. This time, I was able to win the gold medal,” posted delos Santos in his Facebook account.
The Filipino pride squeaked a small differential margin against the Portuguese legend by scoring 25.0 to Garcia’s 24.9.
Fresh from a dominant outing in the Balkan Open last August 2 where he clinched the world no. 2 spot, delos Santos still needs a few tournaments to oust Garcia and take over the top spot.
