The Department of Public Works and Highways Region 6 (DPWH-6) has begun full rehabilitation and structural retrofitting of the Jalandoni and Infante flyovers in Iloilo City.
Repairs for both flyovers started in March based on the approved program of works.
The Infante Flyover, located in front of the University of the Philippines Visayas Iloilo City campus, has an allocated repair budget of PHP19.24 million and is expected to be completed by July 2025.
According to the project billboard, repairs include tightening of high-tensile bolts, repainting from span 1 to span 6, and laying asphalt on the plug joints to improve durability.
Meanwhile, the Jalandoni Flyover, which connects major roads near the University of San Agustin along Jalandoni and General Luna streets, has a repair budget of PHP77.29 million.
Completion is targeted for January 2026.
The DPWH will replace the existing asphalt overlay, particularly at the approach sections.
The project also involves installation of new non-skid roadway materials, repair of expansion joints, bolt tightening, and full repainting of pavement markings and the entire structure.

In April, the DPWH-6 confirmed it held coordination meetings with the city’s Transportation and Traffic Management Office (TTMO) and other agencies to manage traffic flow and ensure public safety during construction.
TTMO head Retired Col. Uldarico Garbanzos told Daily Guardian on Wednesday, May 21, that they requested DPWH-6 to avoid major repair work during morning and afternoon rush hours to minimize congestion.
He added that the TTMO also asked DPWH to install adequate safety signage for motorists passing beneath the flyovers and to schedule asphalt overlay work at night.
“If the repairs are implemented in full, we will request a full closure so that work can proceed continuously and be completed on time,” he said.
Construction of the Jalandoni Flyover began on December 22, 2008, and it opened to traffic on July 9, 2010.
It was built under the French-assisted Mega Bridges for Urban and Rural Development program.
The Infante Flyover, the first built in Iloilo City, was constructed in 2005 under the Presidential Bridge Program during the administration of former President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo.
It was completed and opened to the public in October 2007.
