Motorists heading to the Iloilo Provincial Capitol via the Jalandoni Flyover will face temporary lane closures starting this week as the structure undergoes major rehabilitation.
The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Region VI announced that one eastbound lane of the flyover will be closed until November 10, 2025, to allow rectification and repair of its deck slab.
The PHP 77.29-million project also includes replacement of the existing asphalt overlay, particularly in the approach areas of the flyover.
New non-skid materials will be installed on the roadway, expansion joints will be repaired, and bolts will be tightened to improve structural integrity.
Pavement markings and the entire structure of the flyover will also be repainted.
According to an advisory from the city’s traffic office, repair activities will be carried out in two shifts: from 6:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (day shift) and from 8:00 p.m. to 4:00 a.m. (night shift).
During the repair period, all vehicles using the Jalandoni Flyover inbound from Molo to the City Proper are advised to take alternate routes.
Trucks and trailers will not be allowed to enter or exit the affected section.
Contractors were scheduled to begin the major rehabilitation on Monday, September 22, but the start was postponed due to unfavorable weather conditions.
The repairs will be undertaken by a joint venture between A.D. Pendon Construction and Supply, Inc. and Monolithic Construction and Concrete Products, Inc.
The Jalandoni Flyover connects major thoroughfares near the University of San Agustin along Jalandoni and General Luna streets.
The project is targeted for completion in January 2026.
