BACOLOD City – A 62-year-old woman was arrested for allegedly sneaking in a sachet of suspected shabu while visiting her son at Metro Bacolod District Jail (MBDJ) – male dormitory annex in Barangay Handumanan here last Tuesday.
Senior Inspector Norberto Miciano Jr., jail warden, identified the suspect as Francisca Siancua of Purok Cagaycay, Barangay 2 here.
Miciano said Siancua was subjected to body search before she was allowed to see her son who was jailed for a drug offense in October 2018.
Jail officers confiscated from Siancua a sachet of suspected shabu placed inside her coin purse.
Siancua failed to see her son at the jail, as she was brought to Police Station 10.
After the incident, Siancua’s son was subjected to a drug screening to check if he is positive for drug use, but results were negative.
Miciano said they are still investigating if the contraband was supposed to be delivered inside the jail or if it was a personal item.
He said the suspect’s son didn’t even expect her mother to visit him that day because she already visited him last June.
He also said that the suspect’s son didn’t know if his mother is engaging in illegal drugs.
Despite what happened, Miciano said the suspect’s son can still accept visitors, provided they do not violate any rules and regulations of the jail.
Siancua will be charged for illegal possession of dangerous drugs.
Meanwhile, a man was arrested in a buy-bust at a lodging house in Barangay Singcang-Airport here yesterday.
Police identified the suspect as John Rey Panaligan.
Recovered from him were six sachets of suspected shabu worth P95,000, and the P500 marked money. He is detained at Police Station 8.
In Hinigaran town, Raymark Mangilaya, 22, of Barangay Gargato, and a newly-identified drug personality, was arrested in a drug bust at Barangay III last Tuesday, after police seized from him five sachets of suspected shabu worth P6,000, the P500 marked money, and P300 cash.
