The Iloilo State University of Fisheries Science and Technology and Northern Iloilo State University will co-host the sixth installment of the 2025 TBTI Philippines Webinar Series on June 26, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. via Zoom.
The event, free and open to the public, will highlight grassroots research and community-led initiatives in small-scale fisheries.
This month’s webinar, organized in partnership with TBTI Philippines, will feature two key presentations.
Reynilda P. Partida, chairperson of the Municipal Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Management Council and president of SMMART in Carles, Iloilo, will speak on empowering fisherfolk and strengthening local advocacy.
Rother M. Gaudiel, MSc., faculty member of ISUFST’s College of Fisheries and Aquatic Sciences, will present his research on traditional filter net fishing in the Tinori-an River in Barotac Nuevo.
“These webinars aim to bridge science, policy, and community practice,” said the TBTI Philippines organizing team.
“It’s an important space to bring local knowledge into national conversations.”
The initiative supports ISUFST’s broader commitment to inclusive engagement, sustainability, and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals—specifically SDG 14 (Life Below Water) and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals).
As the country’s only fisheries-focused state university, ISUFST continues to lead efforts in research, extension, and internationalization.
Registration is ongoing via [https://forms.gle/5a7UBdMCxTo6qKEw8], with Zoom access details to be shared starting June 23. (PAMMCO)
