The Iloilo State University of Fisheries Science and Technology (ISUFST) convened university leaders and key personnel for a Strategic Recalibration Workshop on Dec. 26, 2025, at the Hasa-Hasa Theater of the Research and Extension Hub, Main Campus–Tiwi Site.
The daylong activity served as a pause point for the institution to assess progress and realign priorities as it advances its long-term development agenda.
The morning session featured Development and Auxiliary Services Director Edmer Bernardo, who revisited the university’s Five-Year Development Plan and outlined where the institution currently stands and where further work is needed.
Bernardo highlighted key accomplishments, remaining targets, and areas requiring stronger coordination as ISUFST works toward its goals through 2028 and beyond.
In the latter part of the program, Eddie Nuque, senior fellow of De La Salle University, served as the main resource speaker and focused on institutional management, governance, and leadership practices.
Nuque offered practical insights aimed at strengthening organizational coherence and improving decision-making across university units.
The afternoon session shifted into a workshop in which participants assessed ISUFST’s current standing, identified gaps, and outlined concrete actions to complete remaining institutional plans aligned with international standards.
University President Dr. Nordy Siason Jr. said the workshop was designed to go beyond compliance and documentation and to encourage honest dialogue among university stakeholders.
“Strategic plans only matter if people see themselves in them,” Siason said.
“This recalibration is about making sure our directions are understood, realistic, and truly aligned with how we serve our students, our communities, and the country,” he added.
He added that institutional strength depends on shared commitment rather than written plans alone.
“When offices and programs move in the same direction and understand why they are doing what they do, progress becomes more sustainable and meaningful,” Siason said.
University officials said the workshop underscored ISUFST’s commitment to reflection, collaboration, and realignment as it continues to pursue quality education, innovation, and public service.
