The Century Tuna IRONMAN 70.3 Subic Bay Philippines is set to deliver a weekend of high-octane endurance racing from June 14 to 15, with top-tier local and international triathletes competing for glory—and a shot at the World Championship in Spain.
Slated for Sunday, June 15, in Olongapo City, the iconic triathlon event will challenge participants with a 1.9-kilometer swim, 90-kilometer bike ride, and a 21-kilometer run, marking the second installment in Sunrise Events, Inc.’s five-race IRONMAN calendar this year.
“The Subic Bay race has always been a favorite among our athletes because of its challenging course, world-class organization, and enthusiastic community support,” said Princess Galura, General Manager of Sunrise Events, Inc.
The weekend opens with the RLC IRONKIDS on Saturday, June 14, a developmental platform for young triathletes that aims to foster the sport’s future champions.
Also sharing the stage is the Sunrise Sprint, a short-distance race featuring a 750m swim, 20km bike ride, and 5km run, designed for first-timers and competitive speedsters alike.
This year’s Subic Bay edition offers 45 qualifying slots for the IRONMAN 70.3 World Championship in Marbella, Spain—making it one of the last and most competitive qualifiers ahead of the November finals.
Among the Filipino hopefuls is Irienold Reig Jr., preparing for a title defense in the 5150 Bohol in July, and leading the local charge in the men’s 18-24 age group.
Other top male contenders include Gerard Mendoza, Julio Padilla, John Paul Osio, Carl Aguilar, Jan Javier, and Benedicto Mapanao Jr., all expected to vie for podium finishes.
In the women’s 30-34 division, former beauty queen Faith Garcia brings star power and strong competition, racing alongside athletes like Regina Rosquites, Gabrielle Silvestre-Tengco, Clarisa Agapito, Hazel Sicat, Nicole Andaya, Claudine Mendiola, and Bianca Bondoc.
The event also celebrates community and club camaraderie through the IRONMAN TriClub program’s “Badge Blitz,” which rewards clubs based on athlete participation with digital achievement badges and cash prizes, including a PHP 50,000 grand prize in the season finale.
Participants and fans can visit the Subic Bay Exhibition and Convention Center from June 12 to 15 for the IRONMAN Warehouse Wipeout Sale, offering major discounts on race gear, apparel, and official merchandise.
