The IRONMAN 70.3 Philippines marks the start of a new decade of elite racing in Lapu-Lapu City, Cebu, with an even more explosive and demanding test of endurance, power, and speed set for Aug. 10.
Held in the country’s premier destination for sports and adventure, the race continues to attract a dynamic mix of local and international triathletes vying for glory in one of Asia’s most prestigious multisport competitions.
As in past editions, the grueling 1.9-kilometer swim, 90-kilometer bike, and 21-kilometer run—presented by Megaworld and Mactan Newtown—will challenge athletes on a course that blends stunning coastal views with unforgiving terrain.
Celebrated worldwide, the IRONMAN 70.3 Philippines earned the title of Best Spectator Race in 2018 and has since grown into a marquee fixture in the global triathlon calendar.
Dubbed the Crown Jewel of Asia, IRONMAN 70.3 Lapu-Lapu features a unique course through the crystal-clear waters off Mactan Island, an iconic cycling route, and a festive yet demanding run—delivering an unmatched racing experience.

It’s also a full weekend of racing and celebration, with several side events enhancing the festive race-week atmosphere.
These include the 2GO Reyna Bulakna Run on Aug. 8 at Liberty Shrine—a 5-kilometer fun run inspired by local heroine Reyna Bulakna, promoting empowerment and unity, open to all genders ages 5 and up.
Also scheduled is the RLC Residences IRONKIDS on Aug. 9 at Dusit Thani Mactan Cebu Resort, a swim-run and running event for children ages 6 to 15 aimed at nurturing young triathlon talents.
The Sunrise Sprint, set for Aug. 10, is a shorter-distance race featuring a 750-meter swim, 20-kilometer bike, and 5-kilometer run, ideal for beginners and recreational athletes.
South African Olympic medalist Henri Schoeman and Dutch triathlete Els Visser headlined last year’s edition as overall champions, capping a thrilling decade of competition.
As the race returns in 2025, the strong partnership between Megaworld and IRONMAN promises another spectacular edition celebrating perseverance, resilience, and elite athleticism.
With another international field expected, the upcoming race promises intense competition, personal triumphs, and unforgettable moments that will define a new era of endurance racing in the Philippines.
