IPPO hits 100% barangay compliance in loose firearms drive

ILOILO CITY — The Iloilo Police Provincial Office posted 100 percent compliance with the Police Regional Office 6 campaign against loose firearms.
As of Sept. 22, IPPO said all 1,721 barangays in Iloilo province had surrendered or turned in at least one loose firearm.
The effort supports Project RTT 3389, or Restrict, Track and Turn-In, a PRO-6 initiative aimed at strengthening firearms accountability and encouraging the proper turn-in of loose firearms across the region’s 3,389 barangays.
Police Col. Bayani Razalan, Iloilo police chief, said the San Rafael Municipal Police Station was the first to comply with the directive.
San Rafael, which has only nine barangays, turned in 11 firearms, consisting of four long firearms and seven handguns.
Batad Municipal Police Station ranked second, while Pavia Municipal Police Station took third place.
Among Iloilo’s five congressional districts, the 5th District was the first to complete the requirements.
A total of 1,762 firearms have been surrendered or turned over in Iloilo since the project began.
Razalan said police would continue their campaign against loose firearms.
