An internet technician is the latest drug personality arrested in a police anti-narcotics operation.
Alias Junjun, 39, of Barangay Dolores, Balasan, Iloilo, was arrested on the evening of April 1 in nearby Barangay Tinguian, Balasan.
Officers from the Balasan Municipal Police Station nabbed the suspect after he sold a sachet of suspected shabu for PHP13,000.
Upon frisking, police recovered seven more sachets of suspected shabu along with several non-drug items.
Capt. Renzo Martinez, Balasan police chief, said the seized drugs weighed around 80 grams with an estimated street value of PHP544,000.
Martinez said the suspect had been under surveillance for a year due to his alleged involvement in the illegal drug trade.
Reports indicated the suspect sourced his supply from drug personalities based in Iloilo City and Roxas City, Capiz.
He reportedly operated in Balasan and nearby towns, including Carles and Estancia.
Junjun was previously arrested in Dumarao, Capiz, in 2016 for a drug-related offense.
He was also apprehended in Anilao, Iloilo, for illegal possession of a firearm.
In both cases, he was able to post bail.
Classified as a high-value individual, the suspect is on the region’s drug watch list.
He is now detained and will be charged with violating Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
