Intel cop dies in motorcycle accident

BACOLOD CITY – A policeman died after a motorcycle accident at Sitio Linao, Barangay Bato, Hinigaran, Negros Occidental, on Sunday night.

The victim was identified as Police Staff Sergeant Steven Donasco, 32, of Barangay 1, who was assigned as an intelligence operative at Hinigaran Municipal Police Station.

Police Lieutenant Voltaire Sy, deputy chief of Hinigaran Municipal Police Station, said Donasco had just come from an operation when the tragedy occurred.

Sy stated that Donasco was approaching an uneven road when he lost control due to a high beam light from an oncoming vehicle.

“Tungod sa kasilaw, wala niya nakita ang dalan nga gina agyan niya para maglikaw,” he added.

Sy mentioned that the victim hit his head on the pavement despite wearing a helmet.

Sy said the victim passed away in a hospital.

Following the incident, Sy is appealing to the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) to check the unfinished road project to prevent further accidents.
