Inot keeps Molo police post despite admin cases

ILOILO CITY — Police Capt. Ryan Christ Inot remains chief of Iloilo City Police Station 4 in Molo despite pending administrative charges against him.
Police Regional Office 6 director Brig. Gen. Randulf Tuaño said during a press conference Monday, Sept. 28, that Inot remains Molo police chief pending the evaluation of his counter-affidavit.
The National Police Commission 6 earlier filed administrative charges against Inot and two of his personnel.
NAPOLCOM-6 spokesperson Atty. Michelle Benitez-Yotoko said Inot was charged with grave misconduct and grave neglect of duty.
One of his subordinates was charged with grave irregularity in the performance of duty, while another was charged with grave neglect of duty.
Tuaño said Inot would have to file a counter-affidavit in response to the cases against him.
The region’s top police official said he had been in talks with NAPOLCOM regarding the matter.
“Hinihintay po natin ang kautusan as to their directive as to the administrative case of Captain Inot at yun ang ipapatupad natin,” he said.
Tuaño said NAPOLCOM would have to evaluate Inot’s counter-affidavit.
He also assured that PRO-6 supports NAPOLCOM-6’s continuing investigation involving personnel of ICPS 4.
Yotoko earlier said it would be up to the Philippine National Police leadership to decide whether Inot should be administratively relieved while the cases are pending.
NAPOLCOM-6 initiated a pre-charge investigation involving 15 police personnel following the controversial July 1 operation at ICPS 4 by the PNP Integrity Monitoring and Enforcement Group.
The investigation covered Inot, 13 of his personnel and one member of the Regional Police Drug Enforcement Unit 6.
NAPOLCOM-6 found no probable cause to file administrative charges against the 12 other personnel.
The commission also established through gathered closed-circuit television footage that a wanted former police officer had been near the ICPS 4 facility.
However, ICPS 4 personnel did not arrest him.
Investigators also found that a person under police custody was outside the detention cell when IMEG personnel, supported by the PNP Special Action Force, conducted the operation.
NAPOLCOM-6 has said the finding of probable cause allows the administrative cases against Inot and the two other police officers to proceed but does not constitute a final determination of liability.
