ROXAS CITY, Capiz – An inmate facing murder and theft charges was caught with illegal drugs Wednesday evening, August 7, inside his cell at the Capiz Rehabilitation Center (CRC) in Brgy. Lawaan.
Alias “Jay” of Brgy. Mahunodhunod, Cuartero, Capiz, was caught in the act around 7 p.m. by a fellow inmate repacking the illegal drugs.
A certain alias “Paul” saw the suspect busy repacking the illegal substance and immediately informed a jail guard.
Recovered from the suspect were three sachets of suspected shabu with an estimated weight of one gram and a standard price of P600.
According to CRC Warden Arjuna Yngcong, the suspect strongly denied the illegal drug possession, claiming that someone had placed the substance in his cell.
Yngcong mentioned that a concerned citizen had informed him that a person outside the CRC perimeter had thrown an item inside the jail facilities. However, no item was recovered when they checked.
The suspected shabu and the suspect were turned over to PSMS Aljun Berdugo, the investigator at the Roxas City PNP station.
Charges for violation of R.A. 9165 or the “Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002” have been prepared against him.
