The number of repatriates in Western Visayas who were infected by the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) increased to 56 with six new cases recorded on Thursday, based on data from the Department of Health-Center for Health Development Western Visayas (DOH-CHD 6).
The new Covid-19 cases include four Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) and two locally stranded individuals (LSIs).
The four OFW repatriates are:
-a 35-year-old male from Bacolod City (WV Patient No. 131);
-a 29-year-old male from Sagay City, Negros Occidental (WV Patient No. 132);
-a 24-year-old female from Talisay, Negros Occidental (WV Patient No. 133); and
-a 35-year-old male from Cauayan, Negros Occidental (WV Patient No. 134).
The two LSIs include a 38-year-old male from Bacolod City (WV Patient No. 135) and a 40-year-old male from Sagay City, Negros Occidental (WV Patient No. 136).
Except for WV Patient No. 131 who is under home quarantine, the five other repatriates are under facility quarantine.
The 56 repatriates who contracted the virus include 33 who were discharged after completing the 14-day quarantine and yielded negative results in the real-time polymerase chain reaction test (RT-PCR); 16 who are still quarantined; 6 who are admitted to a health facility; and 1 fatality.
On Thursday, the health department also recorded two OFW repatriates who recovered from Covid-19 – a 34-year-old male from Hamtic, Antique (WV Patient No. 91), and a 23-year-old male from Pandan, Antique (WV Patient No. 110).
Based on the records of the health department, a total of 4,078 OFW repatriates arrived in Western Visayas as of June 10.
