BACOLOD City – The remains of a newborn baby boy was found in a riverbank at Barangay Baviera, Sagay City, Negros Occidental Wednesday morning.
Police Major Antonio Benitez Jr., city police chief, said that some residents in the area who went fishing saw the body of the infant floating past 7 a.m.
The baby was naked and his umbilical cord was still attached.
Benitez said the baby’s body was retrieved and was buried at the public cemetery.
He said the baby was probably left there for two days now, according to the village chief.
He said they cannot tell who left the infant there because they have no witnesses.
