Incoming guv vows to continue health program

BACOLOD City – Incoming Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson said the provincial government-sponsored Negros Occidental Comprehensive Health Program (NOCHP) will continue under his administration.

Lacson said the program can continue even though there is already an existing Point-of-Care from the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) and the Universal Health Care Program (UHCP).

He pointed out NOCHP can only be stopped if the Point-of-Care and the UHCP become free for patients who are undergoing treatment in both government-run and participating government hospitals.

Lacson said NOCHP becomes the “last recourse” for hospitals, wherein it covers all payments not covered included in the health programs of the national government.

NOCHP was initiated in 2010 and as of 2019, it has 300,000 member-families and has benefited 400,000 patients.
