BACOLOD City – Negros Occidental Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson is optimistic that the province would be downgraded to the “new normal” come June 16, 2020.
However, he said it would still depend on the final declaration of the Nationa lnter-Agency Task Group against the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).
Whatever mode of quarantine it will be, we will just wait. Wearing of the face mask is the ‘new normal’,” Lacson said.
The governor said everyone will have to use common sense in following health protocols to prevent the virus from spreading.
Under the “new normal” almost all of the restrictions are expected to be lifted, although minimum health protocols such as wearing of face masks when outdoors and maintaining social distancing will still be enforced.
Even if the quarantine is lifted, Lacson advised the public to avoid crowded areas, limit travel to essentials, and remain vigilant against COVID-19.
The modified general community quarantine will expire 11:59 p.m. on June 15.
