After sweeping the whole elimination round, Joshua Chavez of the CPU Golden Lions was hailed champion in the table tennis men’s singles event after crushing his opponent from Dumangas, 11-6, 11-3, 11-6.
Armed with the veteran smarts and the familiarity of the playing table, Chavez made sure no upset will be pulled-off as he took down tough opponent after tough opponent.
Facing a determined player from the Iloilo City Schools in his opening game, Chavez took only 20 minutes to dismantle his foe and advance to the next round.
Taking down the opponents in his next two games, Chavez made himself qualify for the men’s singles finals where he will face the other bracket’s winner from the fourth district.
With the win, Chavez will represent the province of Iloilo in next year’s Regional Sports Meet.
