It seems like Jovelyn “The Bionic Ilongga” Gonzaga is preparing herself for a change after turning down the invitation for the Philippine National Volleyball Federation Inc. (PNVF) tryouts from April 28-30.
The newly formed volleyball governing body is currently ramping up its preparations for the upcoming international competitions with the formation of the new national team as its main priority.
The dynamic Ilongga spiker was invited by the volleyball association but begged off from the offer and said that maybe it’s time for the younger players to fill in her spot.
“Thank you indoor volleyball! That was a great journey with you. For now it’s time for me to take a new route. Bigay na natin sa mas karapat dapat. #ParaSaBayan,” Gonzaga posted in her social media account.
Gonzaga is a part of the 20-invited volleyball players for the tryouts headlined by Kalei Mau and national team staple Jaja Santiago.
The Bionic Ilongga is already considered one of the veteran leaders in the previous national teams and was even named once as the Pilipinas team captain.
Gonzaga represented the Philippines during the last three Southeast Asian Games as a professional player under the team of the Army Lady Trooper.
Will Gonzaga formally announce her exit from the PH national team or will she open her doors to new opportunities including beach volleyball?
