ILOILO CITY — Police arrested Iloilo province’s seventh most wanted person in Anilao town on Tuesday, Oct. 20, 2026, as authorities intensified their campaign against fugitives facing criminal charges.
The suspect, identified only as alias Ren, 48, of Barangay Vista Alegre, Anilao, was arrested in Barangay Poblacion at around 11 a.m.
Operatives of the Anilao Municipal Police Station arrested the suspect on warrants for qualified sexual assault in relation to Section 5(b) of Republic Act 7610, or the Special Protection of Children Against Abuse, Exploitation and Discrimination Act, and qualified rape under Article 266-B of the Revised Penal Code.
The Regional Trial Court Branch 71 in Barotac Viejo, Iloilo, issued the arrest warrants on Sept. 28, 2026.
The court set bail at PHP 200,000 for the qualified sexual assault charge but did not recommend bail for the qualified rape case.
Anilao police chief Capt. Ma. Rosela Buenvenida confirmed that the suspect ranked seventh on the Iloilo Police Provincial Office’s (IPPO) list of most wanted persons.
The arrest is part of the provincial police’s continuing campaign to locate and apprehend individuals facing outstanding arrest warrants.
IPPO Director Col. Bayani Razalan said the successful operation demonstrated the effectiveness of sustained intelligence gathering and information sharing among police units.
He assured the public that the provincial police would continue tracking down fugitives to ensure they face the charges against them.
“The remaining wanted person in the province will be located, apprehended and will be brought before the court of law,” Razalan added.
The suspect remains in the custody of the Anilao Municipal Police Station for documentation and processing before being turned over to the court.
The charges involve alleged violations of laws protecting children against sexual abuse and exploitation, with the accused entitled to the presumption of innocence until proven guilty in court.
