The Iloilo province’s second most wanted person was arrested early morning of Nov 2, 2020 at Poblacion, Bingawan, Iloilo.
Personnel from the Janiuay Police Station, the PNP Regional Intelligence Division, Iloilo Police Provincial Office – Provincial Intelligence Unit (IPPO-PIU), Calinog Police Station and Bingawan Police Station joined forces to collar Jerry Cantoria, 50, of Sitio Canhing, Barangay Jibolo, Janiuay.
They apprehended Cantoria by virtue of an arrest warrant for murder docketed as Criminal Case No.19-84390.
Judge Gemalyn Faunillo Tarol of the Regional Trial Court Branch 31 issued the arrest warrant on Oct. 2, 2019.
No bail was set for his temporary liberty.
Colonel Gilbert Gorero, Iloilo police chief, said Cantoria, along with two others, were charged for the murder of a barangay tanod (village watchman) in 2016.
He went into hiding in Tapaz, Capiz while his two co-accused were arrested.
Gorero said the two other suspects pointed to Cantoria’s whereabouts until he was arrested.
The suspect is now detained at Janiuay Police Station.
