One of Iloilo province’s most wanted men was arrested late on Feb. 25 in the town of Cabatuan.
Alias Jimmy, 52, a resident of Barangay Mambiranan, Calinog, was captured after nearly two years in hiding.
Members of the 1st Iloilo Provincial Mobile Force Company (IPMFC), along with the Iloilo Police Provincial Office – Provincial Intelligence Unit (IPPO-PIU) and police from New Lucena, Cabatuan, and Calinog, arrested the suspect at a friend’s house in Zone 2, Barangay Cagban, Cabatuan.
He was apprehended by virtue of an arrest warrant for rape by carnal knowledge under Criminal Case No. 23-1560.
Judge Redentor Eugenio Esperanza of Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 76, Janiuay, Iloilo, issued the warrant on April 23, 2023.
No bail was recommended.
Jimmy is Iloilo province’s No. 2 most wanted person.
Captain Aileen Lacrite, Cabatuan police chief, said authorities also seized a 12-gauge shotgun from the suspect.
While Jimmy did not resist arrest, he initially attempted to escape.
He threw his bag, which contained the firearm, before being subdued.
Police said Jimmy had been moving between the homes of relatives and friends to evade capture.
However, authorities eventually tracked him down.
He is now detained and will face additional charges for violating Republic Act 10591 (Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act) in relation to the election gun ban.
