ILOILO CITY — A 33-year-old man listed as the No. 1 most wanted person in Iloilo province was arrested Saturday morning, Oct. 17, in Banate, Iloilo, on a statutory rape charge.
The suspect, identified by the alias “Marlon,” was arrested at his residence in Barangay Carmelo, Banate, around 9:30 a.m.
He offered no resistance when personnel of the Banate Municipal Police Station served an arrest warrant against him for statutory rape under Criminal Case No. 2026-13372.
Judge Ethel Demaisip-Sanson of the Regional Trial Court, Sixth Judicial Region, Branch 66, covering Barotac Viejo, San Rafael, Banate and Anilao, Iloilo, issued the warrant on Oct. 16, 2026.
The court did not recommend bail for the suspect’s temporary liberty.
Lt. Maria Cherry Demarana, Banate police chief, said the suspect was accused of repeatedly sexually abusing a minor relative by marriage.
The alleged sexual abuse began in 2020 and continued until 2025.
However, the case was filed only in January 2026.
The suspect is currently in police custody pending proper disposition of his case.
