After more than two decades, a fugitive from Maasin, Iloilo was arrested in Nueva Ecija province.
Faustino Mandate Jr., 50, was collared at Barangay Pinamalisan, Gabaldon town.
Mandate, who had been in hiding for 23 years, is Iloilo province’s fourth most wanted person,
Members of Gabaldon Police Station, Nueva Ecija Police Provincial Office-Provincial Intelligence Branch (NEPPO-PIB), Maasin Police Station, and Iloilo Police Provincial Office (IPPO) PIB arrested the suspect for murder in Criminal Case No. 46393 issued by Judge Emerald Requina-Contreras of the Regional Trial Court Branch 23, Iloilo City on Oct. 13, 2020.
No bail was set for his temporary liberty.
Police Major Fernand Limbungan, Maasin police chief, said the suspect and two other men were accused of killing a man in Barangay Dalusan, Maasin.
Mandate then fled after the incident.
Police later knew his whereabouts after the arrest of his two co-accused several weeks ago.
Mandate is now detained.
