Iloilo SK chair nabbed with drugs from Capiz

ROXAS CITY, Capiz — Police said the suspected illegal drugs allegedly peddled by a Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) chair in Sara, Iloilo, came from Capiz, particularly President Roxas town.

The Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6) identified the suspect as alias “Rexon,” 26, the SK chair of Barangay Del Castillo in Sara.

PRO-6 said “Rexon” was arrested on Feb. 20, 2026, in a buy-bust operation in Barangay Ardemil, Sara, led by the Sara Municipal Police Station and the 2nd Iloilo Provincial Mobile Force Company.

Police said the suspect was found with 22 medium-sized sachets of suspected shabu weighing more than 300 grams, with an estimated street value of PHP 2,040,000.

Police also said they seized 10 grams of marijuana valued at more than PHP 1 million.

PRO-6 said the suspect had been under monitoring for more than five months based on information linking some residents to illegal activities.

Police said the SK chair, who has held the position for about four years, will face charges for alleged violations of Sections 5 and 11 of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

Shabu is the street term for methamphetamine hydrochloride, which authorities say remains among the most commonly seized illegal drugs in the Philippines.
