The Iloilo Provincial Library and Archives officially launched its digital platforms on Monday, April 8, marking a major step toward improving public access to government publications, historical records, and educational materials.
The new digital services include:
- Library Website (iloiloprovinciallibrary.com):Provides news, updates, and general library information.
- Digital Library (iloiloelibrary.com):Hosts digitized provincial government publications, Ilonggo history, culture, and other accessible resources.
- Virtual Reference Services:Offers real-time online assistance.
- Bookshare:Integrates assistive technology for users with reading barriers.
Library and Archives Chief Allana Delgado said the transition to digital platforms enables the library to reach more users, especially those unable to visit in person.
The project is part of the provincial government’s broader digital transformation agenda focused on improving access to information and preserving local heritage.
The launch was held at the Capitol lobby and featured a ribbon-cutting ceremony attended by university librarians, students, and department heads from the Iloilo Provincial Government.
Provincial Administrator Raul Banias, who represented the provincial government, highlighted the importance of digital accessibility in public service.
He said the online platforms will enhance inclusive learning and praised Gov. Arthur Defensor Jr. for his continued support of education in the province.
