The Iloilo Provincial Population Office (PPO) was recognized as the Most Outstanding Provincial Population Office in Western Visayas during the 2024 Population and Development (PopDev) Awards on March 11 at the SMX Convention Center in Bacolod City.
The Commission on Population and Development (PopCom) VI conferred the award for PPO Iloilo’s outstanding efforts in localizing the Philippine Population and Development Plan of Action (PPD-POA) 2023-2028.
Provincial Population Officer Atty. Ruel Von D. Superio was also commended for his leadership and dedication, which were instrumental in Iloilo’s recognition.
PPO Iloilo received distinctions in several program areas, including:
- Adolescent Health and Development (AHD): 152% of target adolescents reached.
- Responsible Parenthood and Family Planning (RPFP): 833% increase in new family planning acceptors.
- RPFP Promotion: 118% of target couples and individuals reached.
- Special Population Group (SPG) Programs: Effective implementation of population and development strategies.
Atty. Superio accepted the awards alongside Field Operations Division Chief Janel T. Alegata, Training and Research Officer Shiela Mae C. Tuares, and Statistician II Jessa P. Salido.
Meanwhile, Population Program Officer I Chona Lynn C. Contreras received an award on behalf of the Municipality of Calinog for its active participation in the Population, Health, and Environment (PHE) project.
The municipalities of Ajuy, Maasin, and Concepcion were also recognized for advancing PHE initiatives.
The PopDev Awards honor outstanding population offices nationwide for their efforts in implementing population and development programs at the local level.
