Iloilo outlasts rival Negros in PCAP Southern Division showdown

The Iloilo Kisela Knights prevailed over their Southern Division rival Negros Kingsmen, 15-6, in the Professional Chess Association of the Philippines (PCAP) season II “Wesley So Cup Conference”.

Going at each other since the first season of the PCAP tourney, the Kisela Knights this time dominated from the get-go and opened their match with a momentum-boosting victory.

Soon as the Blitz category began, the Kisela Knights put on the pressure early in the duel after taking a 5-2 lead in the first seven boards.

Iloilo continued its balanced attack and got solid performances from GM Hovhannes Gabuzyan, Cherry Ann Mejia, Cesar Mariano, and Fritz Bryan Porras.

In their last match of the evening, the Kisela Knights picked up where they left off and replicated their convincing performance against the Zamboanga Sultans, 16.5-4.5.

With the back-to-back sweeping wins, Iloilo is now second overall in the total points tally with 457.5 next to San Juan with 463.

In terms of the win-loss record, Iloilo is currently sitting at the no. 3 spot of the Southern Division with 25-6.
