The province of Iloilo, through the Provincial Population Office, has been named one of the top three national finalists for the Rafael M. Salas Kaunlarang Pantao National Award by the Commission on Population and Development.
The prestigious recognition honors local government units that demonstrate exemplary performance in advancing inclusive and sustainable development through effective population and development programs.
Iloilo is competing in the provincial category, with winners to be announced during the awarding ceremony on Nov. 26 at the Eastwood Richmonde Hotel in Quezon City.
The award, named after Rafael M. Salas — the first executive director of the United Nations Population Fund and a distinguished Filipino public servant — celebrates LGUs that embody people-centered governance and human development.
The Iloilo Provincial Population Office, led by Atty. Ruel Von Superio, has been recognized for its innovative programs and sustained efforts in promoting responsible parenthood, adolescent health, gender equality, and family welfare.
“This recognition is a testament to our shared commitment to improving the quality of life of every Ilonggo family,” the PPO said in a statement.
Through its population and development initiatives, Iloilo continues to uphold its vision of empowering communities and advancing human capital — solidifying its standing as one of the country’s leading provinces in governance and social progress.
