The Iloilo provincial government has launched a PHP 2.75 million Digital Project Monitoring System aimed at improving oversight of infrastructure and development projects through centralized and real-time tracking.
Funded under the 2024 Seal of Good Local Governance Incentive Fund of the Department of the Interior and Local Government, the platform is expected to streamline the monitoring of provincial programs, projects and activities.
Gov. Arthur Defensor Jr. said the province is studying the possibility of integrating automated alerts into the system to immediately flag delayed project implementation.
According to Defensor, the proposed feature could help concerned offices respond more quickly and minimize disruptions to communities awaiting government services and infrastructure projects.
“It can be done, but it will be difficult,” the governor said, referring to the technical challenges of adding real-time notifications to the platform.
The system was formally inaugurated during the turnover of information technology infrastructure to the provincial government Monday, May 25.
DILG Iloilo Provincial Director Carmelo Orbista said Iloilo received the national incentive because of its sustained commitment to good governance and effective local administration.
“The Province continues to demonstrate excellence in local administration and development initiatives, making it deserving of support mechanisms such as the Seal of Good Local Governance Incentive Fund,” Orbista said.
He added that digital transformation has become essential in ensuring efficient public service delivery and stronger accountability in government operations.
The Digital Project Monitoring System is designed to track, analyze and manage the full life cycle of provincial projects while helping ensure that implementation stays on schedule and within budget.
The SGLG Incentive Fund is granted to local government units that pass the DILG’s annual assessment standards on transparency, financial administration, disaster preparedness, social protection and other governance indicators.
