The Iloilo Kisela Knights handed total domination over the Palawan’s Queen’s Gambit, 20-1, during the Professional Chess Association of the Philippines (PCAP) season II “Wesley So Cup Conference” and completed another sweep.
It was all Iloilo from the get-go as the fired up squad continued to pile up win after win in all 14 playing boards.
A scintillating 7-0 start sparked Kisela Knights’ offensive display and never looked back soon as the Rapid category began.
The opposing Queen’s gambit team managed to score one draw in the Rapid category but Iloilo had a strong 8-0 run to finish the Southern Division showdown in style.
In their second match of the PCAP tourney, Iloilo had another stellar showing and crushed the Mindoro Tamaraws, 14.5-6.5.
NM Gio Mejia, Cesar Mariano, Fritz Bryan Porras, NM John Michael Silvederio, and GM Rogelio Antonio Jr. did their thing and delivered strong performances to help the Kisela Knights rack up their eighth straight win of the conference.
The back-to-back win outing helped Iloilo clinch the no. 1 spot and forced a three-way tie with Camarines and Cordova with identical win-loss records of 20-5.
