The Iloilo Kisela Knights will begin their journey to the Professional Chess Association of the Philippines (PCAP) pedestal as Northern and Southern division playoffs begin today.
Entering the playoffs with an astonishing 13-game winning streak, the Kisela Knights will try to maintain its dominance as it takes on the Cordova Dutchess Dagami Warriors in the first round.
Iloilo won against the Dagami Warriors during the eliminations after scoring a sweep against them and is hoping to replicate the same in the quarterfinals.
Spearheading the Iloilo chess squad are widely-renowned GM Joey Antonio Jr., NM Giovanni Mejia, Karl Viktor Ochoa, Fritz Bryan Porras, Dennis Bernas, and NM John Michael Silvederio.
Ahead of the first round, the Kisela Knights management team led by owner Leonardo Sotaridona, Gil Libutaque and Hubert Canto behind the board coaching are also gearing up for potential mental warfare against the best chess players in the country.
Iloilo will bank on their momentum and oozing confidence as the no. 1 team in the Southern division after taking down the top teams including rival Negros Kingsmen and Southern top powerhouse squad Laguna.
