Iloilo has emerged as one of the country’s top performers in safe and sustainable healthcare after 12 provincial hospitals received national distinctions in the 2025 Green and Safe Health Facilities Awards of the Department of Health.
Five district hospitals earned 5-star ratings, the highest award given by the DOH to institutions that demonstrate exceptional standards in environmental management, disaster readiness, sanitation and patient safety.
The top awardees are the Iloilo Provincial Hospital in Pototan, Aleosan District Hospital in Alimodian, Dr. Ricardo S. Provido Memorial District Hospital in Calinog, Dr. Ricardo Y. Ladrido Memorial District Hospital in Lambunao and the Rep. Pedro G. Trono Memorial Hospital in Guimbal.
These facilities were recognized for advancing green initiatives, improving waste-handling systems, adopting cleaner energy sources and institutionalizing strong safety and emergency protocols.
Seven other provincial hospitals secured 4-star ratings, reflecting strong compliance and continuous system upgrades.
These are the Jesus M. Colmenares District Hospital in Balasan, Sara District Hospital in Sara, Gov. Niel D. Tupas Sr. District Hospital in Barotac Viejo, Ramon D. Duremdes District Hospital in Dumangas, Don Valerio Palmares Sr. Memorial District Hospital in Passi City, Federico Roman Tirador Sr. Memorial District Hospital in Janiuay and the Ramon Tabiana Memorial District Hospital in Cabatuan.
In its press release, the Iloilo provincial government said the results reflect sustained investments in modernizing public health facilities and raising operational standards across all districts.
